Description

Hatsan NovaStar Pre-charged Pneumatic Air Rifle

Hatsan’s newest addition to the Nova platform offers numerous upgrades over its predecessor, including lighter weight, higher velocities and more shots per fill.

Weighing in at 8.4 lbs., the Hatsan NovaStar is almost a pound and a half lighter than the Nova and features an ergonomic thumbhole stock made of high-quality Turkish maple. It also adds a height-adjustable comb, increased muzzle energies and velocities. According to Hatsan, maximum muzzle velocities of 1300 FPS (.177), 1125 FPS (.22) and 1050 FPS (.25) are achievable, alongside maximum muzzle energies of 37 FPE (.177), 47 FPE (.22) and 54 FPE (.25). With numbers like these, it’s a suitable target shooter, pest eliminator and small game hunter.

The Hatsan NovaStar PCP air rifle also features an adjustable Quattro Trigger, fully shrouded barrel, a 480cc carbon fiber air cylinder and Hatsan’s patented Anti-Knock System, which helps prevent wasting gas when the rifle is knocked or bounced. It even has a spare magazine storage compartment built into its stock.

Sporting less weight and more features than its older sibling, the Hatsan NovaStar PCP air rifle provides quality, reliability and value all in a moderately priced package. Order yours today and access the power, reliability and versatility normally found in PCP air rifles at much higher price points.

It's a beautiful air rifle.

If I could change the accuracy of this rifle,,, I would. I've tried 4 different pellets,, and about 3 different varieties of slugs.

From my research, to include consulting with other owners of this rifle,, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a Hatsan rifle that fires properly. I've purchased 2 Hatsan,,, and will never buy another.

Attractive, solid, powerful,(.177) likes heavy projectiles, high shot count.

Better quality control at Hatsan, several loose screws. Priced too high in my opinion.

Good looking

Too heavy, too loud, not backyard friendly

The gun is not smooth when operating it at all

Gerald Jul 05, 2023

We all that because we have the same gun doesn't mean it like the same ammo, the gun Steve reviewed just so happens to not like them, I been following Steve for awhile and what your claiming doesn't sound right, he may have said that at high speeds its not accurate at certain yards but inside certain yards there accurate. I could have sworn he said that is the perfect slug gun..Then you Phillip go on and say that the power set up is causing the problem with the pellets, your the one that sounds informative, and misunderstood what Steve was saying, I haven't watched the video in a while,he shot mostly slugs, and said it was the perfect slug gun...if you can make a statement trying to correct Steve, then you knew all along he was right , if he said what you call very informative, you basically proved his point about the gun not liking lighter pellets but love heavy pellets and slugs .. PHILLIP, WHY DON'T YOU DO A VIDEO ON THE SAME GUN TYPE AND PROVE STEVE WRIGHT/I MEAN WRONG

Philip Jan 06, 2023

This is Steve's infomercial on the NeutronStar. He makes the point that this rifle doesn't like "lighter" pellets, but loves heavy pellets and slugs. This review is very informative. https://youtu.be/SJZNGszt0E4

Philip Jan 06, 2023

I'm thinking the power set up is causing the pellets to exceed the sound barrier (1086.9 fps) which will cause the excessive "crack" sound, like a .22 cal long rifle cartridge. A regulator would allow one to dial the muzzle velocity down below the sound barrier, which would quiet the retort.

Beautiful rifle with plenty of power.I like the fact that it's not regulated.Having a regulator just complicates things.I don't know why people like them

Nothing

Buy one if you can afford it.There are cheaper ones bit you get what you pay for

Dennis Apr 30, 2024

not liking regulators on pcps says a lot about your tuning ability and obtaining accuracy. sorry ole boy

Quality of the wood stock, the weight isn't too heavy, the high shot count, carbon fiber bottle, smooth adjustable trigger, threaded barrel, non-automatic safety, adjustable cheek rest, canting buttpad, side lever cocking, two magazines that are metal.

The plastic spacer for the buttpad adjustment. They should make that part aluminum because mine came over tightened and the locknut crushed the plastic making it impossible to slide the buttpad up and down. I had to use a heat gun to reshape the plastic in order to make the area the locknut rides in smooth again. They should spend some time and wax protect the wooden stock, I did it myself, but for this price point, it should have been done for me. Hatsan should also look into making a custom type airgun case for it.

Don't over tighten the buttstock screw or the locknut will lock in place and you will not be able to move the buttpad up and down. My Neutron Star came with the hex bolt already over tightened creating this problem.

I bought this Neutron Star as a refurb from Hatsan USA, retired, disabled and a limited income. But for $599 I couldn't resist. I have an Air Arms Avenger that I really liked but I wanted more punch. Mine came in a well used box but the rifle looked new. My first shot, empty, I knew this rifle meant business. I don't have close neighbors so I like the crack it makes. I don't like killing animals but the groundhogs have holes drilled all over my yard. Four down and hope there's no more. I like the 10 shot mags in .25 cal, a spare in the stock. The walnut stock is beautiful. The lever works very well. Every rifle should work so well. I have a cheap Hatsan Optima scope, $75 that works very well. Why do some people need to spend $400 for a scope? I can get 80 shots on one fill, this is what sold me. I thought of buying a more powerful rifle, like a .357, but why?

It's a little heavy, my Flash and Avenger both weigh less than 7 pounds, the Star is about 9 pounds with scope.

I wouldn't call it a "starter" rifle, but it is pricey. But I think it's a better rifle than most other .25 cal rifles. So if $850 isn't too much to spend you can't get any better than this NeutronStar. Maybe get lucky and get a refurb, like me. Great rifle.

Rich Feb 08, 2024

This was my favorite rifle. now three years later and over 6000 rounds fired through it, it's tired, I had the cocking lever fixed but it's too hard to cock. I had it tuned and was able to fire a 34 grain pellet 71 fpe, near 1100 fps. I bought it refurbed so who knows how many shots it shot before me. But it's retired, I recently bought a Seneca Eagle Claw. And I did buy another Seneca, in fact, three. A heavily modified single tank Recluse, C.A.P. tuned and a .357 dual tank Recluse, Will Piatt tuned, and a new Dragon Claw Generation 2 .50 cal. But my Neutron Star will always be my favorite.

Everything

Stop boring a hole in the stock to hold an extra magazine We have pockets on our pants

Its pretty damn loud and should come with a suppressor

Ken Nov 20, 2022

Great response by David!

David Oct 26, 2022

The magazine in the stock is actually a good idea. Think about it this way. You have a magazine in the stock, and one loaded into the rifle. Whenever you grab your rifle, you have two magazines right there. Better than trying to figure out which jacket or pair of pants you were wearing last time you shot... oh wait, yesterday was laundry day...

Smooth cocking, very accurate, well balanced, that power wow I love it when that slug cracks an animal, the trigger. Ive shot plenty of small game with this gun at ease. Pigeons at 120yrds, gophers at 75yrds, raccoons chipmunks squirrels and crows with in 50. I use the fx 22 cal slugs. They are pricey but the expansion is amazing. The slug I pulled outta the raccoons heads were all fully expanded at 35yrds. Not sure why all the neg reviews but I do under sometimes you get a lemon. This is my 4th hatsan gun and my bt65 .30 needs to be looked at and hatsan USA has always returned my email. Sometimes you need to check your spam. Only gun that beats this in my opinion is the $3000 fx mkll thats my next baby, someone shot a pigeon at 325 yards .22 cal yup got my attention. Hope this helps but know where your slugs are hitting at each range before to get mad like a child and say its not accurate this gun rocks. I also put an athlon talo btr 4-14x44 FFP scope on it.

Maybe an external adjustment for the hammer or a bundle package with a Donny FL suppressor but nothing really.

This gun is loud like louder than a .22 rim fire BUT with under $200 you can get a Donny FL suppressor and she becomes quieter than a mouse fart. This gun very powerful so make so you have a very solid back stop, if using wood then it needs to be more than an inch thick. Ive shot 200 plus rounds outta mine and it still functions as it should.

Philip Jan 06, 2023

I'm thinking the non-regulated factory power set up is causing the pellets to exceed the sound barrier (1086.9 fps) which will cause the excessive "crack" sound, like a .22 cal long rifle cartridge. A regulator would allow one to dial the muzzle velocity down below the sound barrier, which would quiet the retort. The moderator would be icing on the cake. I have read this is the perfect "slug gun."
