10 of 34 Hatsan Model 25 SuperTact QE Reviews
The compactness, adjustable sock.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake it reliable and have good quality control, the gun failed after 25-50 shots. Doing research on airgun forums after the gun failed I've learned that it has lots of issues. One thing I notice is the trigger housing is made of plastic which can easily bend and twist, in my opinion it should be metal, it would be a lot more stable and sturdier.
What Others Should KnowDo your research on it before buying.
powerfull carbine good sights fun gun
Things I Would Have Changedpistol grip is too small and should be ambidextrous
What Others Should Knowno cocking aid was included , it is every bit of 58 lbs of effort , not a kids gun , breakbarrel pistols should all have an optional stock- trevox and trail need to step up !
Hard hitting power and awesome accuracy.
Things I Would Have ChangedInternal parts need to be upgraded to machine metal.
What Others Should KnowAfter waiting months for this rifle to become available again, I immediately ordered one. This is a cool looking rifle and it has power and accuracy. Unfortunately, Hatsan spent 99 percent of cost and quality on the outside of the rifle. The internal mechanism which surrounds the trigger is all plastic. After about 70 rounds of shooting the trigger and sear failed. I cooked the gun , inserted a pellet, and as I was pushing the barrel back in locking position, the barrel sprung from my hand and fired a pellet straight through my patio umbrella . This rifle is dangerous and Hatsan should be ashamed to sell this weapon. I really wanted to love this rifle and I still would buy it again if Hatsan comes up with an updated version that has quality inside and out. I am still very sad because this was going to be a small rifle with enough power and accuracy to rid my barn of rats.
So I have had this little compact rifle in .22 for a couple weeks now and I can say that I am very impressed with it. First off it is very accurate with JSB 18.13 grain pellets which are the ones that seem to do the best in it for me. The open site's work well and at 20yrds you will have no problems hitting a squirrel or a rabbit with the open sites. I put a red dot site on it and it is a tack driver at 20 to 25yrds with the jsb 18.13 grain pellets but after that distance the shot group opens up more. this is definitely a closer range gun. it has nice power as well and I would have no problem pesting with it or even taking a squirrel or rabbit at 20 to 25yrds with it all day long. it does have a pretty decent recoil from the spring though so better make sure what ever you put on it can handle the shock. I am planning on trying a crossbow 4x32 scope on it to see how that does and if I can step out the accuracy a little more with it at 30yrds. Great little bug out gun for sure!
Things I Would Have Changedget rid of the right handed grip thing and just make it ambidextrous for left and right handed shooter's! I am a lefty and I alway's hat it when I see a great gun with a right handed only grip or set up on it!
What Others Should Knowbest pellets I have found so far that work great in this gun are the JSB 18.13 grain pellets
Light weight backpackable . Doesn't require an air source . Can be scoped . Adjustable cheek riser . Plan to install a BSA 2x20 pistol scope on mine with a one piece BKL mount .
Things I Would Have ChangedA lot more plastic on this model . The compression tube and maybe the barrel and cocking linkage is metal but that's about it . Even the actual breech and trigger is plastic . No way to install a moderator on this model , not overly noisy , but could be quieter. Does come with open sights but seem kind of cheesy . Other reviewers have said the front sight does come loose after several rounds . Keeping an eye on mine .
What Others Should KnowOut of the box mine would not stay in the cocked position , I had to adjust the triggers front screw . Then it would activate the automatic safety and work as intended . The release button for the stock is very difficult to depress . Left hand grips are available .
Compact design, accuracy is acceptable for plinking, Headshot on squirrels at 25 yards max. I wish all of my guns had this trigger.
Things I Would Have ChangedI bought the spring version. If I had it to do again, I would go compressed air type piston. I went from regular sites which were ok to red dot to pistol scope but had some difficulty finding mounts and a scope short enough. This is an airgun that needs a 4 power scope if the user desires to drive tacks at 25 yards. The scope I was able to mount is only 2 power. Performance may vary as I have old eyes...
What Others Should KnowI had to return the first one due to trigger problems. The second Hatsans trigger is spot on. Before shooting I would loosen stock mounting screws and add lock tight. This gun can be accurate past 25 yards. It depends on the distance that you set as battle sight zero. I sight in at 20 yards, plink at 40 yards on a 6" frying pan and can also do the same at 50 yards occasionally with a 3" holdover. Having the short barrel and spring limitations this airgun meets my expectations. If you get a good one at the current price point chances are that you will also be satisfied.
The gun is built like a tank, it feels even burlier than my Browning 800, I like shooting it and expect it to last forever and ever and ever... I like the sights in pistol form, but they get too close in carbine form so I put on a dot sight which works for both. I like that Quattro trigger at least as much as the Brownings, it breaks cleanly. In pistol form, 10 meters, wrists rested, Im getting close to half-inch groups with Predator GTOs and Winchester MVPs (I shoot lead free; welcome to California, man!). For me, that is good shooting! Better than my Browning 800, which also suggests that the anti-recoil sledge of the 800 Express or Hatsan Supercharger may not actually give any better accuracy. I use the 1911 hold BB described (grip with middle finger into the thumb web, with everything else loose), otherwise it groups poorly and shoots too high.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt is a bear to disconnect the stock from the pistol, even with lube slathered all over the fitting. Medium, and then fine sand paper gave it a manageable fit. The threads for the cocking extension are not cut exactly in line with the barrel, and so the far opening of that extension isn't exactly centered, but pellets are not clipping so no problem. I found cocking the stock power plant to be rough, see below.
What Others Should KnowLight pellets make the gun shoot harshly and after cocking this gun a few dozen times my delicate palm started to bruise, so I performed a 1 cent de-tune, pulling the spring and replacing the top hat with a penny, which reduces both piston weight and spring preload. Now each shot has a springy drumhead feel instead of a clank, and it is easier to cock; see my review of the Browning 800 Express for details. If I were slinging lead, Id leave it stock and wear a glove.
I think mine is shooting closer to the spec. 600fps than the 450 Pyramyd found on their gun, but that is a guess from time-of flight.
For the rifle form, I couldnt get it to shoot well holding it like a spring rifle (artillery hold). I have to grip it like a pistol (like BB Pelletier says for the 1911), and with my off-hand's open palm under the grip, and the stock lightly resting at my shoulder. Then it groups as well as the pistol and moreover the aim point is much closer to the pistol's point.
Size, fairly accurate with jsb 15.9, adequate power
Things I Would Have ChangedI would like better quality sturdier iron sights on this nice little gun. The front sight tower on mine can rotate around the barrel freely and the setscrew strips easily before tightening due to the front sight tower being made of plastic. Hard to hold zero when the sight tower can move from side to side.
What Others Should KnowI really like this carbine just wish it came with better quality iron sites
Great as the carbine! as a pistol its to heavy! used a dove to weaver adapter, and a offset leapers weaver mount, and a 3-9x32 Hammers rifle scope, the rifle has a scope stop plate on it to keep the dove from moving, and the weaver is not moving. dieseled a lot for the first hundred pellets, and was somewhat erratic on groups at 10 yards, but came in nice after break in. pretty much hole in hole now. I use JSB 7.87 pellets seem to work well. Trigger is good out of the box, and adjustable if you need to. adjustable stock for length, and comb height.
Things I Would Have Changednot much. the only thing would be the barrel lockup mechanism Hatsan uses. could be designed better, like the lockup on my stoeger x20 s2.
What Others Should KnowThis pistol shoots best as a carbine with a riflescope!!
