Things I liked:

Alright, update time! Finally got a good day to take this thing out and break it in. 53*F and about 200 rounds later and I’m blown away! At first, I thought maybe this gun was dieseling a bit because of how powerful it kicks and how ridiculously fast these pellets were getting to the target. But I wasn’t seeing any evidence of that. I don’t have a chrony but I can tell by sight/sound, these rounds are moving faster than my Gamo Silent Cat (supposedly 1250fps w/alloy). Using Crosman Premiere Hollow Points, 7.9g in both guns btw. The S3 suppressor ACTUALLY WORKS! (a miracle, I know!) The shot itself is really quiet as it exits the muzzle, as you can hear that first, followed by the sound of the spring action. Which doesn’t sound like other springers I’ve used either. It doesn’t have a cheap “twang” to it. It sounds like it’s good quality and durable. If that makes sense? At the end of the day, I was able to get golf ball sized groups (open sights) our past 40yds. Any flyers were my fault

Things I would have changed:

Still a bit disappointed in the plastic front/rear sights, as well as the safety. It just doesn’t seem right on a gun of this quality. I had a little run in with some loose screws, but that’s why we look the gun over prior to use right? Also, had a little trouble with the trigger. It feels like nothing is changing when adjusting the screw? Now I’m not sure if this is common when upgrading from a lower end springer, (Winchester, Crosman, Gamo) but this gun was really tricky to shoot at first. As I mentioned above, there were a few “flyers” which were definitely my fault. But that’s because this gun seems to be temperamental on how you hold it. I kept thinking it had to do with the trigger and me “pulling” the shots, so that’s what I focused on most. Come to find out, once I stopped focusing on the trigger, and focused on a softer grip and keeping the sights on target, I just followed through on the shot and it made all the difference.

What others should know:

My first review was more of a “first impression”, which didn’t do the gun any justice at all. Kind of pointless actually. After getting a chance to really shoot it, I’m impressed! Even with it being refurbished/open box, it’s an absolute STEAL at $70! Very powerful, (kicks hard for a .177) deadly accurate, and a suppression system that works. It’s got some weight to it, but feels very well built and durable. (Stock is solid) The break action is butter smooth with no squeaks or grinding noises. Clicks back into place with ease. Safety is quite convenient, just push/pull with your thumb. Will auto engage as well. It’s going to take some practice/patience, but once you get past that “hump”, I guarantee you will be satisfied!

Things I liked:

Very unique appearance. The checkering on the grip points may be rough to some people, but to me, I like knowing that my rifle isn’t going to slip out of my hands. Also includes two sets of interchangeable grips (blue & orange) if you prefer less abrasion. The orange adds a little “flare” to the appearance as well. The gun is a little on the heavy side but gives it a solid, durable feel. POWERFUL! This gun kicks harder than any .177 break barrel I’ve ever fired. At about 30yds away, with Crosman (Lead) Premiere Hollow Points, (my go-to) I could hear the target getting “smacked” almost as soon as I pulled the trigger. I don’t own a chronograph but these pellets are MOVING! I wouldn’t doubt the listed velocity for a second! As far as the cocking mechanism, it’s brand new so takes a bit of effort but once you get that initial “break”, it’s butter smooth. A firm bump with the palm of your hand will initiate the action. Trigger is a bit stiff but I’m hoping to tweak that to my liking.

Things I would have changed:

I’m glad I got this gun on sale because the retail price seems a bit steep in my opinion. I’d buy this gun for $100 any day, in comparison with other 1000fps break barrels, (.177) this may be my new favorite. However, for $250 I would’ve been a little disappointed. The safety is plastic, as well as the open sights. Even the dials for windage/elevation. My Gamo Shadow Whisper has metal dials at least. Speaking of the Whisper, the Suppressor on this rifle doesn’t live up to its name. Maybe it’s because it’s still new, or shooting in <40* temps. But this gun is louder than my Gamo. Surprising considering the size of this suppression system. The trigger adjustment screw is a bit difficult to access, and doesn’t seem to allow much “play”. I think I was able to get about 2 full rotations? Still experimenting with that though. I’ve put about 50 pellets through this gun so far and as of now it likes to shoot low. But I know it could be another 100-150 shots before it’s “broken in”.

What others should know:

Overall, for under $100, I couldn’t be happier! This gun feels durable aside from a few small components. If you’re like me, and you care for your rifles, this should last a LONG time. It DOES seem louder than expected, and was tricky trying to get it dialed in. But again, it’s BRAND NEW, and maybe the cold temperature is playing a role in that. I’ve got a lot more experimenting to do with this rifle and I’ll be sure to update in time. I can tell this gun is powerful, and I’m looking forward to some pest control with it. Would I pay $250 though? Probably not. Not considering some of the other rifles out there at that same price point. If you can get it on sale, I’d recommend it. The folks at Pyramyd Air are absolutely phenomenal! Anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks again for helping me make the purchase!
