With over 100 years in the airgun industry, Weihrauch certainly knows how to create an amazing breakbarrel air rifle.
The HW98 is a gun destined for backyard greatness in target shooting and small game hunting. This air rifle builds on Weihrauch’s long experience by keeping the ambidextrous stocks while adding an adjustable buttplate which cants left to right as well as moves up and down, along with an adjustable cheekpiece set into its unique beech wood frame, accented by black stippling along the forend and grip.
Like other airguns by Weihrauch, the HW98 contains the famed Rekord trigger, a crisp, clean, 2-stage adjustable that’s been called on of the best spring gun triggers in the world. While there are no open sights, the 98 includes an 11mm dovetail which begs for a high powered scope. If you can’t tell by now, this is not your average breakbarrel!
With this combination of quality design, comfortable hold and prized features--make the HW98 your own!

The rifle is my last HW98 to complete the chronological order of HW98s I bought before, first the .20, then the .25, then the .177, and NOW the .22 HW98 from Pyramid Air. The style of the rifle with the power plant is absolutely sufficient for the pellet the HW98 can shoot which is the equivalent power plant of the famous R9 and HW version as the HW95. There is no reason to get a higher powered spring air plant because the HW80 and R1 have too much for repeated control in offhand shooting. It is much easier to use the HW98 in offhand shooting where the stock can be fitted to your offhand shooting position to your desire. The lighter HW95L or HW95 will not do in constant repeated offhand firing of a spring air rifle to make adequate accuracy or groups. The HW98 WILL make offhand shooting of the spring air rifle customized with little adjustment with the scope you use or the mounts. I like the fact Pyramid Air is selling HW98s when all other places are not, anymore. The HW98 is it.
Things I would have changed:On the HW98 you CAN change the position of your hold by adjusting the moveable stock. You cannot change anything about any other air rifle with the ease the HW98 offers. I would not change a thing on any caliber of HW98! I now have all four calibers and these HW98s give me true performance and constant consistency over all weather conditions.
What others should know:I'm a springer fan and biased against CO2 and pneumatic pump and PCP. The HW98 gives the shooter the best consistency with the least amount of "effort" shot to shot. No chamber pressure gauge, no CO2, no pumping. Just break the barrel, cock, and take off the safety before each reliable shot. All mistakes are made by the shooter and not the HW98.

I purchased this HW .22 great rifle. It has some vibration and buzz out of the box. I put a JM tuning kit in and it will put pellet on on pellet. This is a precision fine quality rifle.
Things I would have changed:I wish Weihrauch would deburr the inside of the rifle.
What others should know:I have tuned rifle and this one will give my tuned guns a run for their money. Great rifle!

what scope for the weihrauch 98?
How much are you willing to spend?
Will the .22 Special Order come with the new 2020 threaded barrel option?
It should be new production. Yes.
1) What is the muzzle energy in 0.25? 2) Does all calibers come with a same spring?
All depends on the true velocity of your rifle, you really need a choreograph to find that number, and you need to know the weight of the pellet in grains.
22 ft lbs. The spring is the same in all calibers.

The HW98 is my first Weihrauch air rifle. The fit, finish, and overall quality of this rifle is simply outstanding. The blueing is perfect as is the wood and finish. The adjustable cheekpiece and buttpad allow you a custom fit and work well. The cheekpiece has a number penciled-in underneath which means it's not a mismatched hunk of wood from somewhere else. A nice detail. Being winter, I haven't been able to sit down and do a proper sight-in on paper, but I do have the scope (3x9 Bug Buster) roughed in and I'm hitting the paddles of my old Gamo pellet trap at 25 yards offhand every time with Beeman 1245 .22 pellets. Cocking effort is light and smooth, and the Rekord trigger unadjusted is crisp and consistent. The firing cycle is very smooth no doubt due in part to the extra weight of the heavy barrel. The inevitable twang you get with any springer is there, but it's muted and barely noticeable. Audible report is very, very quiet. The stippling affords a sure grip, and looks great.
Things I would have changed:Not a thing, other than having Spring come quicker so I can give the rifle a proper sight-in, test, and workout.
What others should know:The HW98 is relatively expensive, but in my opinion it's worth every penny. This is a beautifully built and finished rifle that exudes absolute quality in every aspect. Despite my limited shooting opportunities due to weather, the rounds I have put through the gun so far give every indication that this one fine shooter.
