Crosman Premier Piranha Hollowpoint pellets feature a rounded top with a star-shaped indentation. Crosman calls it the "shark tooth edge." The Piranha delivers the penetration of a domed pellet with the expansion of a hollowpoint for the best of both. Made in the USA and compatible with .177 caliber air rifles and pistols only, the Piranha is a great choice for hunting small game or nuisance animals.

Things I liked:

Best accuracy in a Daisy 901

Things I would have changed:

Nothing. I realize these have too large of a diameter for some break barrels, but I'm really glad I found them for my little Daisy 901 pump. I tried a total of 7 different pellets, including H&N, JSB, Crosman and Gamo and these easily gave me the best results. I was surprised, since I found them to be less accurate in my Winchester 1100s than other pellets. It just goes to show you need to match the pellet to the specific gun and not rely too heavily on other reviews for other guns.

What others should know:

I have five different air rifles, .177 and .22. All of them are sensitive to the brand/type/weight of pellet and the way you hold/rest the gun, except the three least expensive rifles, two daisy pumps and a Winchester 1100s springer. The Winchester shoots even the cheap daisy flat noses reasonably well no matter how I hold/rest it. I've never found a good pellet for the Benjamin Titan NP and seemingly spent as much on pellets as I did on the gun! It is even more sensitive to how I hold the gun than the Winchester springer. I don't really understand that, but that's the way it is. I have a Crosman nitro piston repeater that is also sensitive to hold and to pellet selection, but I gave up on it because it keeps destroying the plastic magazines. Air rifles can be frustrating, but it is satisfying to find the right combo. I believe the Daisys have a slightly larger bore since they are designed to shoot BBs and pellets. That might be why the Piranhas work well in the 901.

Things I liked:

These pellets hit about 8" low at 25 yards out of my Diana model 36. I thought my scope was broken until I tried a couple of other pellets. I can't even adjust the scope enough to get it zeroed with these pellets. I inspected my gun but there's nothing I can find that would be deflecting the pellets, it's very strange. They group decently, just very low. I've shot plenty of pellets through this rifle, some more accurate than others, but nothing else that is this far off while still being this consistent. As others have pointed out, they are a very tight fit.

Things I would have changed:

I don't know, it seems like they need to be just a couple of thousandths smaller diameter?

What others should know:

They may work for you, they sure don't for me.
